_______(Subtle Haven)

For the exhibition “POWER HOUSE Episode 1: where do we grow from here” of nova space at the Schiller-Museum in Weimar, I built the site-specific installation _______(Subtle Haven). It served as the exhibition‘s starting point.
The walkable sculpture obstructs the original architecture of the museum by inserting walls, openings, and ceiling elements that blend into the exisiting architectural elements. On a first look, one can hardly draw any conclusions about the museum’s original architecture.
   Furthermore, ________(Subtle
Haven) incorporates all the works by the other  participating artists. This creates unusual spatial situations to experience art on the one hand, and on the other hand, like the installation changed the narrative of the museum‘s architecture, its own narrative is now transformed by the exhibited works. As an (in)visible and rhizomatic substructure, the installation still connects and serparates the artworks on display, and spatially guides the visitors in their experience.

For “POWER HOUSE Episode 2: no one belongs here more than you” the configuration of ________(Subtle
Haven) was altered. Previously inaccessible areas were now opened  revealing the backside of the installation and used to exhibit new artworks. Thus, the exhibition could organically spread further into the museum.

The work was on view during the following episodes “Episode 01: can’t stop won’t stop” and “Episode 02: reframing the future” from 01.04. until 31.07.2023. Afterwards, I took it down, and recycled its materials into other works.https://tillroettjer.studio/cube
