An Introspective Monument (A:I:M)

From the start, I used A:I:M to experiment with different forms of cooperation. It was also a way to better understand what A:I:M was, is, and could be as it was designed without any interest in classic functionality. The only requirement was that it was wheelchair accessible.
Up until now, A:I:M housed artworks and installations by individual artists, a group show, and a wide range of audio-visual works like concerts, readings, listenings, and performances. It was also used as a studio space for myself and for the artists I cooperated with. Coretta Klaue for example described it as a shelter while she composed new electro-acoustic work influenced by an experience of a storm.
What is important though is that I don‘t understand A:I:M as an exhibition architecture. What I was interested in with all of these cooperations were the different atmospheres created when A.I:M, artists, and viewers came together as part of this almost study-like process.
As a result, the walkable sculpture became a spatial instrument whose meaning changes with each cooperation allowing for context-specific allocations and interpretations. Thus, it was possible to depart from classical concepts to classify artworks based on their attributes. This allowed for a renewed perception of the space with each new cooperation and challenged the returning visitors to think beyond prevailing conventions of meaning-making.
Alongside the catalog, I documented all of the cooperations on Instagram.
The following selection shows the resulting atmospheres and encounters.
